James Gallacher Memorial Trophy
Many of you will remember Jim Gallacher, who served as our President from 1980 until his death in 1986. As well as being a very capable president, Jim was a very witty, entertaining chairman and raconteur. His "Will you go to Tobermory" anecdote never failed to have his audience helpless with laughter.
When he died some of his friends donated a sum of money to purchase a Trophy, which was to be the prize for Scottish Literature in an annual competition for pupils of the Vale of Leven Academy. This helps promote Scottish literature, including that of Burns and his works to the younger generations in the Vale of Leven.
