St Andrews Night Celebration 2009

The Club's St Andrews Night Dinner took place at Vale of Leven Bowling Club on Friday 2 November 2009 with 100 Members and Guests attending.

St Andrew's Night Top Table Guests
David Collins, Ian Kinloch, Chairman Harry Summers,
Iain McBain and Eddie Gaughan

The Dinner was chaired by the President Harry Summers before the meal supplied by Venue Caterers, the Selkirk Grace was said by Vice President Fergus McLellan.

The 2 Toasts, to Scotland and Oor Toon were given by Iain McBain and John Kinloch.

Iain McBain who had returned from exile in Spain gave a Toast to Scotland which was very humorous and was well received by the Members.

John Kinloch confessed that despite having been a Club Member for over 30 years, he had never attended a St Andrews Night Dinner. His Toast reflected on the industrial past of the Vale and some of the many characters who were well known throughout the Vale. He concluded by asking us all to contribute to the positive future of 'Oor Toon'.

The Bard of the Vale, Duncan McLean also read two of his own poems, which as ever went down very well with the audience.

Other entertainment was provided by Eddie Gaughan and Davie Collins. Eddie sang a varied selection of songs and David after his success last year again entertained the company with his own brand of Sangs and Clatter.

The evening concluded with a vote of thanks from Chairman Harry and the company singing Auld Lang Syne.

We have provided a selection of images from the evening showing everyone enjoying themselves. Move your mouse pointer over these to see an enlarged version.
